Discovering The Hollywood in Houston

You don’t really have to be in Houston in order to experience Hollywood. There is always a slice of Houston that truly rings the Hollywood feel and we are here to show you how you can have a piece of the Hollywood pie without leaving Houston.
First off, the amazingly gorgeous Houston downtown bay view backdrop have served as stage for many films, movies, series and advertisements in the past. And they have mostly passed off as Hollywood. Do some background research to find filming locations before you Houston bus charter, shuttle bus, mini bus, party bus or school bus group trip.
One prime example would be Transformers’ Dark Side of the Moon which used the rather retro side of Houston in Lyndon B as the backdrop. Where the spacecraft crashes on to the moon, Houston was in focus. More than a hundred extras were called in to provide a very period feel to the scene. Another space related movie which made used of NASA center’s Space Center Houston for a couple of the scenes in the movie is Armageddon. Top billing actors, Ben Affleck and Bruce Willis reportedly completed their astronaut training at the space center. NASA’s famous space center is a must for Houston charter bus rental travelers like yourself.
To turn things around a little, Reality Bites, starring Ethan Hawke and Winona Ryder was also partly filmed in downtown Houston, namely Tranquility Park and a house in the Montrose Neighborhood.
The historical buildings in Houston might be one of the reasons why production crews chose Houston as a filming location. Rushmore, starring the legendary Bill Murray, spent much of his time filming at Houston’s Museum District and Hotel Zaza. Just Google up the hotel and you will soon see that the hotel is located right smack in the middle of luxury and pampering businesses all around. A great place to stay during your Houston charter bus rental visit.
Do you need more? If yes, read on. In 2011, Puncture starring Captain America, Chris Evans was filmed in its entirety in Houston. The home and workplace for the film can be found in one of the gorgeous places in Houston, Heights and Harris County Civil Courthouse. The production crew must have found some love for Houston’s best Tex-Mex Houston bus charter, shuttle bus, party bus tourists’ favorite restaurants called Irma’s as it was used as a filming location for quite a number of scenes in the movie. Char Bar on Travis Street also received from film love.
Most major productions and films were filmed in the downtown area of Houston, including the famous Tree of Life movie which featured some of Houston most amazing landmark buildings and downtown area.
As you can see, sometimes, you don’t have to be in Hollywood in order to experience it at all. Just take a short Houston charter bus rental tour around city center and you can feel the very same vibe. It is good enough for Hollywood, it is good enough for anyone.

Finding Hard-to-Find Products at Phoenicia Specialty Food

There is something very real and practical about what you can find and experience at Phoenicia Specialty Food. It is absolutely devoid of pretentiousness and over-commercialization. To-date, according to the last update on their website, Phoenicia carries more than fifteen thousand different types of specialty foods from more than fifty countries all around the world. We are talking about the best beers from another corner of the globe, an abundance of fresh cheese and quality meat, round-the-corner or frozen seafood and of course, boutique wine and finely brewed beers. Make your way to this corner of Houston if you want to sample something unique during your Houston bus charter visit.
The main focal point of visiting Phoenicia during your Houston charter bus rental vacation would be to come experience a whole host of different products...authentic ones....without leaving the country.
Rewind thirty decades ago, Bob and Arpi Tcholakian, both foreigners with or without their rented charter bus, coach charter, school bus or passenger vehicle, trying to build their American dreams. As they starting growing roots on this part of the American soil from Lebanon and Armenia respectively, the site was quickly acquired together for the formation and birth of Phoenicia Deli which is a sort of a two thousand square foot worth of delicatessen and grocery store on their corner of Beltway 8. To make an extra dollar or two on the space that they have in the deli, they rented out space for people to store their specially-imported products....and as they grew, the service became even more popular...and today, they eventually saw the need for something like this and cleverly responded to the demand by purchasing a huge fifty five thousand space to import, store and supply the locals with unconventional products.
And since 2006, when the new Phoenicia Specialty Foods was opened, they have never looked back and neither have their customers who have continuously returned to the place during their Houston charter bus vacations.
Being foreigners and migrants, they very obviously know and understand the hardships of those who had to go through pretty much the same thing. Therefore, it is heartening to note that the management makes incredible effort to give back to the community because they have been through difficult times and yet, the community and society near the business area were so supportive of their efforts. Every year, a selected organization is selected as the benefactor of their contributions - over the years, they have provided aid to local, national and global organizations alike.
Some of our Houston charter bus rental customers contend that it is one of the best and fastest place to grab a quick lunch because of its convenient proximity to the main convention center.

Children’s Museum of Houston

It is of no surprise at all that the Children’s Museum has been named, time and time again, as one of the top children’s museum in the country. It is known even on an international level as a leading museum that places the importance of kids and parent-kid relationship during the Houston charter bus visits. One of the top reasons for a visit to this museum would be to help parents becoming more involved in their kids’ learning and the process of reinforcing and supplementing what they have learned in a classroom environment. The museum also focuses on kids from the lower family income bracket as they believe that education has nothing to do with parents’ financial income and proper education should be available to ALL kids and it is their basic right.
Parents Magazine and Nickelodeon Parents’ Picks have both named the Children’s Museum of Houston as their favorite museum of choice. In fact, Click2Houston called it the best museum for 2010.
Parents and kids alike will be delighted with not just the exhibits and activities available, but the exterior itself is capable of drawing gasps of surprise and excitement. The building’s exterior was designed by renowned architect Robert Venturi. The architect included fun, colorful elements which makes it stand out in the neighborhood.
The museum had its start when some concerned parents noticed that there were few options when it comes to children’s museum in Houston; hence, they got together and started this project. Today, it has been attracting nearly nine hundred thousand people from all walks of life every single year. Houston charter bus rental tourists will bring their kids for early education on important areas and topics like science, maths, art, engineering, culture, social studies and of course, health.
There are various introduction of new attractions and programs over the years and this is what makes parents bring their kids over to the museum again and again. The management regularly brings its exhibits beyond the museum walls by launching outreach programs like ‘Take Another Giant Step Capital Campaign’ and ‘Museum’s Institute for Family Learning’. Because of these projects, the museum is features thirty nine thousand square foot worth of exhibit and exploration space.
So, do not hesitate to bring your young ones to this children’s museum to enjoy the physical tests, block climbing, and playing around with other kids at the Tots’ Area (bigger kids are not permitted into this area because of safety reasons). Those who are visiting this Houston charter bus rental attraction in a large group should make use of convenient and comfortable charter bus, shuttle bus, coach charter, mini bus or school bus.

Blast off into space from Houston

Space Center Houston is a place where rental bus visitors can experience space, from its dramatic history beginning with the Mercury and Gemini programs, followed by the triumph of the Apollo moon landings, and leading on to its exciting present and compelling future.  Space Center Houston is the only place on Earth that gives rental bus guests an out-of-this-world journey through human adventures into space, and you can easily get there with a bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coach or school bus rented from Bus Companies Houston.

Space Center Houston is the official visitor center of the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) center for human spaceflight activities located in Houston, Texas.  The facility is operated by the nonprofit Manned Spaceflight Educational Foundation Incorporated with design input from Walt Disney Imagineering.  Space Center Houston conducts tours of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas and offers rental bus visitors several options at various price levels to get an up-close view to life as an astronaut.

The NASA tram tour, included in admission to Space Center Houston, leaves from the space center and takes rental bus visitors on a brief tour of Johnson Space Center.  Stops on the tram vary based on astronaut training schedules and Johnson Space Center policies.  Tours commonly include the historic or current mission control centers, the space vehicle mockup facility and the Saturn V Complex.  Some lucky rental bus tours get the chance to see the neutral buoyancy lab or astronauts training for an upcoming flight.

The Level Nine Tour offers a more extensive, in-depth look at the Johnson Space Center.  It lasts four to five hours and is limited to 12 rental bus guests.  The minimum age for the Level Nine Tour is 14 years.  Stops on the Level Nine Tour include both the current and former mission control centers, the space vehicle mock-up facility, the space environment simulation lab, the neutral buoyancy lab and lunch in the astronaut cafeteria., where astronauts in training and NASA staff, scientists and engineers have their daily meals.

Rental bus visitors to the Space Center can also get a close up look at space artifacts and rockets such as the Mercury 9 capsule, Gemini 5 capsule, Apollo 17 command module, Lunar Rover Vehicle trainer, Skylab trainer mock-up, and Lunar Module Test Article 8.  A restored Saturn V, on loan from the Smithsonian, is on display after it sat exposed to outdoor elements from 1977 through 2004, leading to exterior weather damage and plants, molds, and small animals inside the stages. In 2004 the Smithsonian took over and began efforts to restore the vehicle.

For all your travel needs in Houston and Texas, give Bus Companies Houston a call to find out how they can help you plan your trip with a selection from their fleet of fully equipped rental buses and friendly, personalized service.
