Touring Houston’s Museum District

Distances across the city of Houston are vast, so if you and your group intend visiting some of Houston’s world class museums, consider hiring a charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coaches or school bus from Bus Companies Houston. Using a rental bus service in Houston makes good sense, especially if you need to travel around Houston as a group.
Houston has some of America’s richest and diverse museums. In the Museum District alone there are 18 museums that curate and display a variety of artifacts, art and other objects of interest. Any visit to Houston’s museums should include the Museum of Natural Science. Founded in 1909, the Museum of Natural Science hosts over 2 million visitors a year. There are 13 permanent exhibits, that range from palaeontology to archeology to space exploration. Traveling exhibits rotate through the museum on a regular basis.

Hop into your rental bus from Bus Companies Houston and head over to the Space Center Houston. Located at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (NASA), this museum showcases America's space exploration from its beginnings in the Gemini and Mercury programs, through to Apollo, Skylab and the Space Shuttle. You can take tours of the facilities, and special tours can be arranged to view actual astronaut training facilities. Actual spacecraft that have traveled into space are also on display.
If you are into alternative art, get your rental bus driver to take your group over to the Art Car Museum. Here you will find cars turned into art. The designs on display are as varied as the artists themselves. The Art Car Museum holds an annual Art Car Parade, and the winner usually ends up on display as part of the museum’s collection.
If you have an interest in Texas’ rich history, pay a visit to the San Jacinto Monument and Museum of History. This 570 foot tall monument is the tallest in the United States, and the museum at the base of the monument constantly rotates exhibits on Texas history, the development of Houston and historical photographs and artifacts.
The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is the fifth largest museum in the United States. Holding over 40,000 works of art from around the world, the museum has 300,000 square feet of display space, spread across seven different facilities. Founded in 1925, the Museum of Fine Arts welcomes over a million visitors a year through its doors.
If you and your group require hired transportation to visit these and other world class museums in Houston, give Bus Companies Houston a call for our friendly, personalized service.

Off the beaten track in Houston

Contrary to popular belief, not everything in Houston is big. In fact, some of its best places to visit are smaller, off the beaten track places. Here are some places you should visit when you travel by charter bus, party bus, shuttle bus or coach charter to Houston, Texas.
For a taste of America in the early 1900s, make your way to Old Town Spring in North Houston where you can enjoy a nostalgic walk through a 19th century frontier town when you get off the charter bus. And browse through the many Victorian-style antique shops, restaurants, and museums. If you choose to spend the night, there are two hotels and an RV resort to choose from.
If you want to get away from it all, then head over to Memorial Park. This 1,500 acre wooded park is a favorite amongst joggers, features tennis courts, playing fields, a fitness center, swimming pool and six miles of mountain and recreational bike trails along the bayous. After your trip, simply walk back and sit comfortably in the rented party bus – that is the luxury of using a rented bus service.
For those of you feeling less energetic but still want to view something nice, you might want to consider visiting the Menil Collection. On display are the privately assembled art collection of Houston philanthropists John and Dominique de Menil which includes over 15,000 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, and rare books from Yves Tanguy, René Magritte, Max Ernst, Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso among others.
Move on from here in the bus charter vehicle to the Museum District, where you can visit a collection of museums, galleries, and cultural centers located within a 1.5 mile radius of Herman Park. Here, you can visit the Bayou Bend Collection at The Museum of Fine Arts; Houston’s first and only 4D theater at the John P. McGovern Health Museum; the Holocaust Museum; the Houston Center for Photography, and the Lawndale Art Center.
Last but not least, for shopping, nothing compares to Texas’s largest mall, The Galleria Houston, with two separate Westin hotels, an upscale shopping mall centrally located just outside the 610 loop in Houston’s Uptown District. You can get to the middle of The retail center in your party bus, charter bus or mini bus which is anchored by Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, and high-end tenants as Tiffany and Co., Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Yves Saint Laurent are but some of their tenants.
With all this and more, there’s so much to explore around Houston by party bus, shuttle bus service or mini bus so book your ticket today. We look for ward to seeing you.

Halloween - A Dark Lighthearted Event In Houston

For those who are ready to roll out the pumpkins and putting on costumes, then it is now not too early to start planning your Halloween happenings. Put your own party together or just join in some of the others' parties; and if you are game for the latter, here are some in Houston.
The first one would have to be The Bash which is a yearly Halloween happening where tons throng to the event not merely just to hang around and play games but also to do their part for the Cerebral Palsy Fund. There would almost always be some form of entertainment for attendees of all ages and walks of life. It is a downtown event so heavy traffic is to be expected. If you are not a fan of being stuck in traffic and do not think the idea of not being able to find a parking spot enjoyable, then you would be better off getting your hands on a bus rental package from Bus Companies Houston, which is a renowned name in the ground transportation business.
For those who prefer to do more grown-up things (instead of ferrying your costumed kids around), then the Montrose Pub Crawl might be just your thing. The event takes participants along the Dunlavy and Montrose bars, clubs and restaurants and is touted to be a much-anticipated affair for many. You can just hop in and join in the fun because there is no ticket to buy and there is absolutely no cover charge for the event. All you need to come in is your favorite and most creative costume.
And of course, we left the best for last – The Houston Zombie Walk which is happening on a Saturday on Oct 27, 2012 at the Jones Plaza, downtown Houston. After the zombie walk, participants will end up back at Jones Paza where they will be treated with amazing entertainment.
So there you go, some of our favorite Halloween events. We hope that you have as much fun as you possibly can when you are paying us a visit right in here in Houston and we are sure that many bus companies in Houston will be more than happy to get your group event comfortably and luxuriously from one destination to another. Please do not hesitate to give us a call to find out how Bus Companies Houston can be of service to you!
